Exhibition - "Polar Mission"
Until Sunday 5 January 2025, Oceanographic Museum of Monaco
Discover an immersive and interactive experience! Take on the role of a roving reporter and set off on a mission to explore the polar regions! This new exhibition includes five thematic areas spread over two levels. Learn about the poles and their wildlife, and the men and women who populate and explore them. Fascinating objects and documents, digital content and immersive devices come together to create a 360° experience. The great voyage can begin! The IMMERSION room (space N°4) has closed. The other areas of the Polar Mission exhibition will remain open until 5 January 2025.

Exhibition - "Fragile Polar Worlds - Greg Lecoeur"

From the floating sea ice and polar bears of the north, to the emperor penguins and vast ice deserts of the south, this exhibition features the iconic photography of Greg Lecoeur, portraying the incredible biodiversity to be found in the Arctic and Antarctic regions, both essential to the health and balance of our planet. Against a backdrop of breathtaking giant decors, "Fragile Polar Worlds" aims to document, inspire, and raise awareness about the important of protecting our oceans. Organised in collaboration with the Oceanographic Institute of Monaco.

Exhibition - "The Prince and the Mediterranean"

As part of commemorations marking the centenary of Princer Rainier III (1923-2023), the Oceanographic Museum presents its new permanent exhibition, "The Prince and the Mediterranean". Visitors to the exhibition, the Oceanographic Institute's tribute to the unshakeable connection between Princer Rainier III and the ocean, and the Mediterranean Sea in particular, will step aboard his ship, Deo Juvante II. Guided by the voice of H.S.H. Princess Stéphanie, they will navigate through four fascinating spaces, each exploring a different facet of the Prince and his passion for all things aquatic.

Events - "Christmas Village - Rainier III, a Passionate Prince"

The theme of this year's Christmas Village, organised by Monaco City Hall, will be "Rainier III, a Passionate Prince". There will be specially created decorations for all ages to enjoy, showcasing Prince Rainier III's greatest passions, namely the sea, the arts, wildlife, and sport. Visitors can look forward to magical parades, mascots, live concerts and stage shows in the evenings. An exciting new addition this year: illuminated fountain displays on the swimming pool of the Stade Nautique Rainier III. New Year's Eve's entertainment will include an evening of music and dancing, with a DJ and grand fountain and light show.

Exhibition - "Christmas Nativity Trail"

On the wishes of HSH the Sovereign Prince Albert II of Monaco, the Principality's Nativity Trail was founded in 2014 in Monaco's Old Town, to bring festive Christmas cheer and convey the culture and values embodied by nativity scenes from every continent. Each year, nativity scenes are displayed all along the trail, set up in specially installed chalets and in the various State buildings in the Old Town district.

Activities - "Sports Village"

In addition to the Christmas Village on the theme "Rainier III, a Passionate Prince", a huge area devoted to adventure and sporting activities will be created on the southern embankment of the Port of Monaco. There will be lots of things to do, including a rope park, climbing wall, and an obstacle course inspired by the popular TV game show "Ninja Warrior". Finally, something never seen before in the Principality: a 180 metre-long rope slide, that will see intrepid adventurers launch themselves from the highest diving board of the Stade Nautique Rainier and soar over the Route de la Piscine.

2023/2024 season - La Compagnie - LA VALSE & L'ENFANT ET LES SORTILÈGES, Balanchine & Maillot. "L’Enfant et les Sortilèges" (The Child and the Spells) is an opera created by Ravel in 1925 in Monte-Carlo, to a libretto by Colette (incidentally, this year marks the 150th anniversary of her birth). It was one of H.S.H. Prince Rainier III's favourite operas. This new interpretation by Jean-Christophe Maillot brings together 240 artists on stage for a larger-than-life ensemble performance, which Ravel himself had originally conceived as a forerunner of the modern musical.
