Tomorrow is the big day! The 6th Monaco E-Prix will take place all day Saturday, with free practice in the morning followed by qualifying and the race itself on the Formula 1 Grand Prix circuit!
New season, new car. This year sees the drivers take the wheel of the 3rd generation cars. These GEN3s now boast a theoretical top speed of 322 km/h, with an engine added at the front weighing a total of 53 kg!
The technological upgrades have proved popular with the organisers of the ABB Formula E World Championship: "We can't wait to see the GEN3 unleashed on the circuit it was designed for! A model made for thrilling races. A car made for Monaco!"
The discipline's creatpr, Alejandro Agag, was full or praise for the Principality, just hours before the start of the race: "For me and for the ABB Formula E Championship,
Monaco is our dream. […] Thanks to the support of the Automobile Club Monaco and the Prince, Monaco has become the cathedral of racing."
Thousands of fans are expected to line the 3.337 km circuit as they watch this fabulous electric race. And as every year, the Monaco E-Prix comes with its own Fan Village. Located on Quai Antoine Ier, the Village will be open all day on the Saturday, from 9 am to 7.30 pm, with play areas, children's activities, live music, a lounge area, and more. Everything you could need to guarantee maximum fun, even including a question and answer session between drivers and members of the public.
On the starting grid, the competition promises to be fierce as the winners of the last four Monaco E-Prix will be present, including Sébastien Buemi, double world champion Jean-Éric Vergne, Antonio Félix da Costa, and Stoffel Vandoorne. Last year's winner and current reigning champion will be hoping for back to back victories in the Principality!
In addition to the race and the trackside activities this weekend, Ever, the renewable energies exhibition taking place on 11 and 12 May at the Espace Fontvieille in Monaco, will be displaying two cars that have helped write the history of the series: a GEN1 from the Venturi Formula E Team, the Monegasque team founded by Gildo Pastor, and a GEN2 car from Nissan e.dams, now known as the Nissan Formula E Team.
Don't miss it!
