Baroque Music - "Stella Orientalis - La Nativité à la Renaissance - Ensemble Céladon"
Tuesday 5 December 2023, at 7 pm, Chapelle de la Miséricorde
The glorious story of Christ's birth was a fertile source of inspiration for Renaissanc musicians. Stella Orientalis depicts a very European interpretation of the Nativity and Epiphany, with a multilingual tour of 16th century Christmas carols. On this journey across Europe, we meet numerous composers (Praetorius, Ortiz, Del Encina) with rather different approaches to the same subject: Christmas Eve and all its mystery and wonder, the adoration of the magi and the shepherds. Paulin Bündgen, countertenor and conductor • Clara Coutouly, soprano • Nolwenn le Guern, viol • Florent Marie, lute

Baroque Music - "Salve ! Marc-Antoine Charpentier - Ensemble Marguerite Louise"
Tuesday 12 December 2023, at 7 pm, Chapelle de la Miséricorde
In the 17th century, "marian devotions" were the dominant form of religious expression, driven by the climate of piety that had reigned in the Kingdom of France since the Council of Trent and the Catholic Counter-Reformation. This work by Marc-Antoine Charpentier bears witness to this particular attraction to the cult of the virgin. The programme includes a collection of intimately moving motets, drawing on an extraordinary palette of emotions with a theatrical style that inspires and exults spirituality. Gaétan Jarry, conductor and organ • Romain Champion, haute-contre • François-Olivier Jean, taille • Geoffroy Buffière, bass • Camille Aubret, violin • Clotilde Sors, violin • Robin Pharo, viola • Stéphane Tamby, bassoon • Marc Wolff, theorbo
