The 116th Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters begins tomorrow, with some new additions and an all-star cast of players! Can Stefanos Tsitsipas make it three in a row?
The world's top players, a breathtaking setting, the Mediterranean providing a stunning backdrop... welcome to the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters!
Once again, there's an all-star cast of players for the first Masters 1000 event of the season on clay, where Novak Djokovic will have a tough task against top-class opponents of the likes of Tsitsipas,
Ruud, Medvedev, or Rune. In addition to the top seeds, the tournament organisers, led by David Massey for the first time since taking over from Zeljko Franulovic, have decided to invite Monaco's Valentin
Vacherot. The 24 year old local will have the chance to pit himself against the cream of the crop at the Monte-Carlo Country Club.
One of the oldest Masters 1000 events on the tour has some new additions in store for 2023, starting with a new Mediterranean-inspired graphic identity. An obvious choice, given the sea can be seen in all its splendour from the grandstands at the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters… Though 116 years old, the tournament is constantly reinventing itself, and now features LED panels identical to those at Roland-Garros. The sea, which has always been a big part of this famous week of tennis, will be given a leading role this year with the VIP village boxes getting a complete makeover and turned to face the Med, for an even more unforgettable experience.
This 2023 tournament promises much, despite the absence of Spain's Nadal and Alcaraz, who would have been among the favourites for the title. Who will take the crown from double title winner Stefanos Tsitsipas and lift the trophy in front of 76 million television viewers?
