Michelin-starred restaurants, exotic eateries, fine dining on top-class
terraces, local experiences... Dishes from near and far promise you a memorable
journey into a land full of flavours. Monaco is positively overflowing with
gastronomic inventiveness. Here is just a selection of this summer’s exciting
new dining options!
New restaurants
Excellence, sharing, and modernity. Three words that perfectly
encapsulate the Michelin-starred Pavyllon Monte-Carlo, a restaurant by Yannick
Alléno at the Hôtel Hermitage Monte-Carlo which opened last April. The triple-Michelin starred Chef’s new eatery
serves locally-inspired cuisine prepared simply but elegantly, in keeping with
its location at the Hermitage, one of the Principality’s finest treasures.
Just a few yards away, Em Sherif Monte-Carlo invites you to savour the finest
Lebanese Mediterranean dishes at Monaco’s most prestigious luxury hotel.
Located on the ground floor of the celebrated Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo, Em
Sherif Monte-Carlo, which also opened in April, takes diners on a culinary
voyage of the senses inspired by Lebanese cuisine, in a warm and welcoming
setting with unrivalled views of the Mediterranean.
For lunch or dinner in an original setting, the roof of the Hôtel Port Palace
welcomes you to “La Môme”. Already present in Cannes, this is the first such
restaurant in the Principality, named in tribute to “la môme Moineau”, who sold
flowers in Parisian nightclubs in the 1920s, and went on to become a
billionaire and regular visitor to the Côte d’Azur. The restaurant serves
Mediterranean-style dishes in a decor inspired by Princess Grace.
Tigrane Seydoux, a native of Monaco and head of the Big Mamma group with no
fewer than 17 restaurants around the world, including in Paris, has opened her
first concept outlet on the newly redeveloped Larvotto beach. Giacomo, with its
beautifully airy and floral decor, offers cuisine with strong Italian
influences, prepared from high quality ingredients in a friendly atmosphere.
Just opposite the shaded Larvotto promenade lies the Palais de la Plage, where
you will find The Niwaki. This new
eatery serves a selection of refined dishes in a relaxing and exclusive
Japanese-themed setting. The contemporary Japanese cuisine with hints of
Mediterranean influences is exceptional.
The Palais de la Plage with its stunning architecture is also home to the Café
Cova, the second by that name to be opened, following the original outlet on
Boulevard des Moulins. Those with a sweet tooth will be delighted by the
pastries for which the very first Cova, founded in Milan in 1817, became
famous. Cova uses only the finest ingredients to serve generous breakfasts and
a wide selection of Italian dishes for lunch.
Like a little Italian bottega, Mozzafiato aims to be the new place for fast-casual food in the heart of the La
Condamine district, on the pedestrianised Rue Caroline. Mozzafiato – which
means “breathtaking” in Italian - offers a generous selection of typically
Italian products throughout the day from 7.30 am.
A bustling, festive and inspirational place, the Maison Fonfon can be found at
the port of Fontvieille. The southern-style concept restaurant serves
Mediterranean cuisine with an emphasis on sharing. At the foot of the Rock of
Monaco, overlooking the luxury yachts in the marina, the venue features an
interior design by Cédric Capron and Franck Lebraly, the renowned artists who
took inspiration from cubism and surrealism for his drawings.
New offerings at Monaco’s
classic restaurants
It’s part of the Principality’s DNA. A destination that constantly
reinvents itself, without ever losing its authentic identity. Monaco’s
most iconic restaurants also have new innovations to discover.
Elsa, the all-organic and wild-caught fish restaurant at the Monte-Carlo Beach,
welcomed its new head chef at the start of the summer season: Mélanie Serre.
Having previously worked with Joël Robuchon and Christophe Cussac and trained
in Paris, Monaco and Geneva, the 36 year-old chef has brought her generous and
elegant cuisine back to the Principality.
On summer evenings, Yoshi - the only Michelin-starred Japanese restaurant on
the Côte d’Azur, can be found by the pool at the Odyssey. Diners are guaranteed
an unforgettable experience, as they savour exceptional dishes in a unique
setting designed by Karl Lagerfeld. With its palm trees, wisteria, and notes of
jasmine, the Odyssey is a veritable oasis of calm in the heart of Monaco.
At the Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo, Alain Ducasse has handed the reins of his
iconic restaurant Le Louis-XV – Alain Ducasse to Emmanuel Pilon, who joined the
famous Michelin-starred chef’s team in 2009.
The Head Sommelier is Maxime Pastor, a Monegasque who studied at the
Lycée Technique et Hôtelier de Monaco, and will find the perfect wines to match
the dishes served at this superb restaurant, which boasts three Michelin stars.
Dominique Lory, previously Executive Chef at the Louis XV – Alain Ducasse, is
now in charge of all of the kitchens at the Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo (with
the exception of Em Sherif, which is independent).
By the sea, L’Intempo by Sergi Arola – a Catalan chef and disciple of the
famous Ferrán Adriá – welcomes guests in a stylish contemporary setting for an
original gastronomical experience. The restaurant at the Hôtel Méridien Beach
Plaza serves light cuisine, now with a dash of Catalan flavour thanks to
acclaimed chef Sergi Arola.
Once a mainstay of the local economy, the growing of citrus fruits was an
important part of Principality’s history, as reflected in the names of the
Boulevard des Moulins and the Place des Moulins. Citrus-infused gin, expertly
prepared by la Distillerie de Monaco, is made with juniper berries, fragrant
sweet and bitter oranges, lemons, limes, grapefruit, bergamot citron, and lemon
thyme.
Coming soon
Every season, you’ll find new places to eat in Monaco. Here is a
selection of the new addresses opening up after the summer and beyond.
On 20 June 2023, the Café de Paris will unveil its transformation. It will be
an opportunity for locals and visitors to discover the big new offerings from
Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer, including the creation of an extra floor
with a unique rooftop area and a new space devoted to luxury boutiques and
other attractive concepts. In the meantime, the brasserie of the Café de Paris,
a hub of Monegasque life for 150 years, will be serving guests in the Salle
Empire at the Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo. The lemonade refreshments service
will remain at its traditional home on the iconic terrace of the Place du
Casino.
After opening venues in Madrid, London, and Dubai, the famous Amazonico will be
coming to Monaco soon! The Latino-Brazilian concept with its exotic, leafy
charm and jungle motifs, will take up residence on the roof of the Café de
Paris.
A new version of the Beef Bar opened in the La Condamine district on 1 July.
The Giraudi group has taken over from Mauro Colagreco, who had been responsible
for the Komo’s menu since the concept-store restaurant first opened. Diners at
the Beef Bar can now choose from a menu with Middle-Eastern influences created
by Head Chef Nariné and her label, Naro’s.

well known to the Genoese for its quality pesto and once a favourite of Frank
Sinatra’s, Zeffirino will be replacing the restaurant Mozza on Rue du Portier.
