With
enthusiastic crowds lining the route, good weather conditions, and an elite
field of competitors, the 26th Rallye Historique Monte-Carlo lived up to its
promise!
Belgium is enjoying a purple patch in the Principality lately. Following
Thierry Neuville’s triumph in the WRC Rally, this time it was the turn of
another Belgian duo to take victory in this 26th Rallye Historique. Assisted by
co-driver Jennifer Hugo, Michel Decremer - who previously won back in 2017 -
claimed his second “Monte-Carl” at the wheel of a 1979 Opel Ascona 400.

The perfect conditions, a top-class line-up of 233 teams starting out
from cities across Europe, the flawless organisation, and the crowds of
spectators lining the route, all combined to make this 24th Rallye Historique a
vintage edition.

As every year, fans flocked to admire the legendary cars, which put on
an amazing show between the Casino de Monte-Carlo and the Prince’s Palace.
To accentuate this unique aspect of the race, only seen in Monaco,
Prince Albert II had paid tribute to Prince Rainier III before the start of the
iconic “Night of Turini”, by driving a lap of the Monaco Grand Prix circuit at
the wheel of a DB Frua, a replica of the model driven by His father in the 1953
Tour de France. Like Nowhere Else!
