"Monet in Full Light" - the event-exhibition of the summer!

Marking the 140th anniversary of Claude Monet's first trip to the Principality, the Grimaldi Forum is this summer hosting a major exhibition devoted to the impressionist master. 

"Monet in Full Light" features around one hundred of his paintings, including numerous rarely seen masterpieces (one of which has never been seen before), and 23 exceptional pieces being displayed for the first time close to the locations in which they were painted. 

In this exhibition, curator Marianne Mathieu invites visitors to approach Claude Monet's work through the prism of light: "Let's not ask what Monet paints but rather when he paints it; let's not look for a motif, but for a moment..."

"Monet in Full Light" offers a closer insight into one of the artist's greatest obssessions. A permanent quest, that he pursued by moving to the Riviera, a region that has inspired so many artists trhough history. From Bordighera in Italy to Monte-Carlo, Claude Monet found his inspiration here. It was a prolific period, highlighted by the paintings of his youth in Normandy and his famous works created in Giverny. 

At the crossroads of chronology and theme, the exhibition features exceptional scenography created within a 2,500 m² museum space. It runs at the Grimaldi Forum until 3 September, and is also open every Thursday evening until 10 pm.
