What's the best way to see out the year in style? It's the question on
everyone’s lips in late December every year! We’ve put together a collection of inspiring ideas for an unforgettable
New Year’s Eve.
The
last day of the year is the perfect time to spend with friends, your
significant other, or the whole family, a time to eat great food and party at
the stroke of midnight!
In
Monaco there’s a wide selection of different ways to ring in the New Year, with
something to suit everyone.
For
a lively and warm atmosphere, head to the Christmas Village! Mulled
wine, festive illuminations, big wheel, fairground rides for the little ones,
and a smorgasbord of delicious food await. There will be a party feel to
proceedings, with music courtesy of a DJ from 9 pm all the way up to the 12 chimes of midnight. For
a fairytale experience, head to the Stade Nautique Rainier III where a
spectacular fountain light show on the swimming pool will illuminate the skies
of the Principality from 11.59 pm to 12.20 am. Port Hercule is always a safe
bet for a fantastic festive atmosphere at New Year!
Alternatively,
head to the city’s other most vibrant district on 31 December: Monte-Carlo and
the iconic Place du Casino! Why not get in the celebratory mood with a glass of
bubbly at the Veuve Clicquot pop-up store, under
a sea of lights opposite the splendid Hôtel Hermitage?
Then
make your way to the Casino Square with its majestic 18 metre Christmas tree,
surrounded by the famous Casino de Monte-Carlo, the Hôtel de Paris, and the
newly refurbished Café de Paris for
total enchantment! While you wait for the musical countdown to midnight, take a
magical stroll that will transport you all the way back to your childhood. Walk
among the giant “snow globes” that tell the classic Charles Dickens tale "A Christmas Carol", and
discover the authentic carousel with its beautiful painted wooden horses.
The
more daring will kick off 2024 by trying their luck at the legendary Casino de Monte-Carlo, where
a DJ, live music and other entertainments await.
If
a night at the theatre is your idea of the perfect way to welcome the New Year,
experience the magic of the Opéra de Monte-Carlo, where the world-famous
musical "The Phantom of the Opera" is
being performed for the first time ever in France and the Principality.
At
the Grimaldi Forum, Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo will be performing a special
adaptation of Carmen at 7.30 pm.
While
at the iconic Salle des Etoiles, diners will enjoy a sumptuous feast while they
are entertained by the global hit show "Mamma Mia" featuring
the very best music from ABBA.
Those
with a taste for the finest gourmet food will not be disappointed!
The
chefs of Monaco’s best restaurants and luxury hotels will be pulling out all
the stops to wow your tastebuds with incredible festive menus and musical
accompaniments.
From
gastronomic fine-dining restaurants like Les Ambassadeurs by Christophe Cussac or Le Train Bleu to
Michelin-starred restaurants such as the Louis XV d’Alain Ducasse, Yoshi or the Pavyllon Monte-Carlo via Il Tavolo at the Hôtel Columbus, the evening in the Grand Salon of the Fairmont Monte-Carlo, the Maya Bay with its “night of lanterns” or L’Intempo at the Hôtel Méridien Beach Plaza, every
one will guarantee a truly memorable New Year’s Eve of culinary delight.
For
a different kind of experience, you might like to spend New Year’s Eve at one
of two winter-themed pop-up venues:
- The "Blue Ice" at
the Hôtel Monte-Carlo Bay, with a breathtaking glacier-themed vibe.
- The "Tradiswiss" chalet
at the Hôtel Novotel Monte-Carlo, with its Alpine feel and delicious raclette,
fondue, and burgers… all accompanied by authentic Swiss cheeses.
