"Cupids Love" in Carre Dore Gallery in Monaco
The Gallery presents from January, 21 to February, 10 2014 one of the biggest artists of the Armenian artistic diaspora in Europe, Ara Mikaelian
Ara Mikaelian was born in 1965 in Armenia, then part of the Soviet Union. His passion for art was recognized early, and from the age of 6 Mikaelian is accumulating solo and collective exhibitions, first in Yerevan and Moscow, later all over the world.
He graduated with Honors the Institute of Architecture of Yerevan. Member of both: Architects- and Artists Unions of Armenia. Work of Mikaelian makes part of several noticeable museum collections.
Since 1994 the Artist lives in Spain, near Barcelona.
Art of Mikaelian absorbes ancient and refined culture of Armenia, and is shaped by peculiarity of his art education (as a teenaged student in an art studio in Yerevan, as it was current in those times, he was forced to use models of mentally disabled people with deformed bodies), as well as, later in time, by tragic events in Armenia that the Artist witnessed - armed conflict, earthquake, deprivation of all sorts.
