"Festival" incorporates the word "festive" -
a word that encourages us to make the most of every moment to celebrate the
pleasure of listening to live music. From Friday 16 March to Sunday 29 April, Principauté de Monaco
The 34th Monaco Spring Arts Festival ("Printemps des Arts")
continues to explore so-called "classical" music, to show that it's
anything but classical! You
just have to listen to it in new concert formats, with performers who take
risks and go off the beaten track!
This year will again be an opportunity to highlight two
important figures, Mozart and Ives - Mozart, with his fast-paced, flowing genius
and Ives, who was the first pioneer of American music to seek a "new
world" by playing with the established norms.
The other moments of the festival
are designed as not-to-be missed experiences, such as the Mystery Trip – an eagerly
awaited event that will transport you to a secret place - or the Monaco Music
Forum, which brings together jugglers, a brass band and dance on one crazy day ...
and as Americans often do things on a large scale, you are invited to a
five-hour concert of Morton Feldman's music – a good way to make time stand
still!
Once again this year, the event will come to a close in style,
with a new choreographic work by Jean-Christophe Maillot for the Ballets de
Monte-Carlo, set to music by Bruno Mantovani, which was specially commissioned
for the Festival.
This year's festival is designed to encourage you to listen to all
kinds of music...
