Bicentenary of the birth of Emperor Alexander II
This year, following the great success of the gala evenings organised
by the ACRN-Russian Cathedral of Nice on 9 June 2016 (at the Négresco in Nice)
and 12 July 2017 (at the Palais de la Méditerranée in Nice) to provide
financial support for the Saint Nicolas Russian Orthodox Cathedral in Nice, the
association is holding its charity evening on 15 June 2018 at the Monte-Carlo
Bay in Monaco.
The evening will be dedicated to the commemoration of the
bicentenary of the birth of Emperor Alexander II, whose son, Tzarevich Nikolai
Alexandrovich, died on the site where the cathedral was erected in his memory. H.S.H. Princess Dorrit Romanov, Princess
of Russia, will be present, as well as the great grandson of the reformer Tsar,
H.S.H. Prince George Yuryevsky, Prince Alexander Trubetzkoy and Prince and
Princess Mourousy. H.E. Alexey
Meshkov, Russian Ambassador to France and Monaco will also be present.
The day will be organised in the following way, recalling and building upon the previous evenings, which each attracted 300 participants from France and
Russia, as well as from Belgium, Switzerland, Spain, the United Kingdom,
Germany, the United States of America and Japan.
11.30 a.m. Grand Panikhid at the Cathedral, in memory of Emperor
Alexander II and the late members of the Romanov Imperial Dynasty,
co-celebrated by Monsignor Nestor, Bishop of Chersonese and the Reverend Father
Andrey Eliseev, Rector of the Cathedral.
7 p.m. Grand gala dinner by invitation at the Monte-Carlo Bay, Avenue
Princesse Grace in Monaco.
