Sustainable fashion, creativity and innovation for the Junk Kouture competition

The world final of Junk Kouture at the Grimaldi Forum saw around sixty competitors enter their original, environmentally-friendly creations.

The world final of Junk Kouture was held on Thursday 22 February. What is Junk Kouture? An unmissable event for sustainable fashion designerse.

This year’s grand final brought together some sixty finalists from all over the world, all aged between 12 and 19, representing design schools in places including Milan, London, and New York.

These budding designers spent months working on their ingenious and sustainable fashion creations. The unique experience aims to leverage young designers’ creativity and innovation to promote a more sustainable future.

Created by Troy Armour, the competition aims to highlight six of the United Nations’ 17 sustainable development goals:

  • Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education for all.
  • Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts.
  • Achieve gender equality.
  • Reduce inequality within and among countries.
  • Make cities and human settlements inclusive.
  • Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns.
