Recycling in Monaco is now child's play thanks to the introduction of a new system... which also gives out rewards!
Cliiink is the first glass recycling reward programme to be introduced in Monaco.
It is being set up by the Department of Urban Amenities, the Société Monégasque d’Assainissement (SMA) and Terradona, in partnership with businesses.
Since June, 51 glass recycling stations have been equipped with a smart counter allowing those who recycle their glass waste to earn points towards special offers (from more than 50 businesses so far) or to transform their points into charity donations.
It's a simple system: all you need to do is sign up via the Cliiink app or collect a card from one of the distribution points (SMA, the Department of Urban Amenities, Monaco Post Offices, or partner retailers) and then register at
www.cliiink.com.
Then simply connect to a recycling station (a list of recycling stations is available on the website), deposit your glass and start collecting points !

It's worth remembering that glass takes thousands of years to break down completely, but it is 100% recyclable and can be recycled an infinite number of times with no loss of material. So sorting and properly disposing of your glass waste is vital!
Please note, however, that crockery, porcelain, ceramics and special types of glass (such as that used in mirrors, windowpanes, light bulbs, etc.) cannot be recycled. These items should be disposed of with your household waste.
