founded by Albert I.
It's the late 19th
century ... An intrepid young aristocrat, Crown Prince Albert I of Monaco,
dreams of only one thing – going to sea. It would only take him a few years to
learn the craft of sailing and own his own small boat, L'Hirondelle.
Keen to make himself
useful to the world, he soon decided to dedicate his time and his ship to
oceanographic work. By revealing the
secrets of the depths, he sought to better understand mankind. But this thirst for knowledge, this
humanist impetus for progress and peace, would unfortunately be confronted with
a world where, at the dawn of the Great War, science was used mainly to destroy
